2 Corinthians 5:17~ "Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new."
As Christians, we are brand new people on the inside. The Holy Spirit gives us new life, and we are not the same anymore. During conversion, we are re-created, living in vital union with Christ. We do not merely turn over a new leaf; we begin a new life with a new master. (NLT Bible study)
This subject of identity will be discussed and taught by pastor Olivia Williamson - Anderson. I will ask her five questions about our identity in Christ and close with prayer. Continue with this quick read interview or audio. I hope this blesses your day!
Brittany : What is identity in Christ?
Olivia: This means knowing who He is until you know who you are. It means that you die out to your old self ( who was bound up) to live freely and to be who you are in Him. Identity is a firm understanding of not just your kingdom assignment but who you are in Christ (sons and daughters -Romans 8:14). We are created by Him and for Him! Ephesians 2:10 says," For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them."
We are His and what we do that's good comes from that relationship. Our relationship was already established.
Brittany : Why is knowing our identity important as believers?
Olivia: If we don't understand who we are, the enemy will cause us to believe a lie and not walk in destiny, but we will knowingly abort the good things God has in store for us. If we don't know who we are, we may try to be someone else or walk in their giftings, and the load will get too heavy for us. Knowing who we are as Christians helps us unlock that learning in others.

Question Three: Why do you think most Christians struggle with identity?
Olivia: Most of those who struggle with this probably have one of two reasons.
They probably aren't in the secret place hearing God's voice or reading His word to know what He says about them.
The enemy uses lies, and self-doubt, whether through thoughts (I'm incapable, I've messed up too much) or from negative words through others (you can't do that).

Question Four: How can we grow in your identity?
Olivia: It's all about knowing the one who is identity! God existed before He created anything. If anyone knows "identity" and who they are without question, it's Him. When we understand who He is in the stillness with Him, we learn who we are. He made us in His image and made us for relationship. Adam and Eve walked with Him in the garden. They discovered who they were then were deceived but had they spent more time knowing His character. They wouldn't have settled for the apple.

Question Five: What are signs that we are walking in identity?
Olivia: We know we are walking into who we are supposed to be by seeing more of Him in our lives. We see purpose and destiny. Without a vision, people perish (proverbs 29:18). We also understand who we are to worship Him and help others. The way we love God and people shows we are in identity.
🔅-Let Us Pray-🔅
Father, I pray right now in the mighty name of Jesus that you stir up and activate true identity to everyone reading this prayer. I pray they're receptive to the fullness you have for them. Strip off every false identity and label that's been placed over their lives. We cast down every thought out of alignment the enemy has used through their ideas or others to take from who they are. Cause them to grow closer to you in a relationship, so identity is activated. I pray every seed the enemy has planted in their lives to dismantle identity is plucked up. I pray minds are freed. I thank you, Lord gifts and callings are stirred up. I thank you. They'll first know they're sons and daughters of you and gain a better understanding of who you are, Father. We declare Your word is accurate, and You called everything you made good. All self-doubt, insecurity, and fear loose God's people right now in the name of Jesus and stir up freedom and identity in Jesus mighty name. Increase our sensitivity to your voice. We call forth sons and daughters. We call forth warriors today! We say to stir up revelation in hearts and ask this all in the mighty name of Jesus! Amen.
Genesis 1: 27 So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them.
