S.Walker & Ciara's Prayer

After much trending of the latest Summer Walker album. A close friend of mine wanted to know my thoughts on the album and the prayer Ciara provided at the end. I didn’t listen to this album. I did listen to the prayer by Ciara. Furthermore, I do not know Summer or her music, but my friend and I began to discuss the intentions, motives, and impact it had on believers and the world. We had good valid points, focusing more on the intentions behind everything. We knew ultimately, people would say “ I want a man like Ciara.” Let’s pray for one or repeat her prayer.

The idea for most relationships is marriage and marriage should be goals, right? Again I did not listen to Summers music, but I believe the album was dedicated to a man or about a man.

Again my friend and I had conversation about the intent of it all.

Shortly after our conversation. I went to prayer, interceding for others. God began to speak to me about celibacy. Celibacy is to abstain from sexual temptations, but no one realizes marriage is included as well. It’s the state to abstaining from both. This is not to frown upon marriage. I'm a married woman, but celibacy and singleness ought to draw all singles into a lifestyle of service to God and to others. Let me explain my point further. Many people think that a relationship with man/woman and marriage can solve their problem. My bible tells me in

1 Corinthians 7-28

But if you do marry, you have not sinned; and if a virgin marries, she has not sinned. But those who marry will face many troubles in this life, and I want to spare you this.

I’ll tell you 4 things marriage cant solve.(bible study application)

• Loneliness

• Sexual temptation

• One’s deepest emotional needs

• Life’s difficulties

You see, at the beginning if this chapter the Corinthians church was in turmoil because of the surrounding culture. They had so many questions about sex, marriage, widowers, and singleness. The questions were obtaining to what they could and could not do while being single or married. Paul answered these questions by saying, ” for now, stay put. Be content in the situation where God has placed you.” If you’re married, don’t seek to be single. If you’re single don’t seek to be married. Live God’s way, one day at a time, and he’ll show you what to do. (Bible study app)

1 Corinthians 7:3-11.

I think the bigger picture was not about bad relationships or even praying for the right someone to come along. I think God wants you to be content where you’re at. Being in a relationship with someone is hard work. Marriage it’s self is a responsibility. Not everybody is ready to be a husband or a wife, but instead of using Ciara prayer as an antidote or a formula.

We should look to God in our wait and be content in your singleness.

Whether you have the gift of singleness or celibacy, both are gifts that the Lord will give you the grace to steward well.

Food for thought ?

Was Singleness and celibacy the message Summer and Ciara was trying to convey?

Or was this a healthy correction God wanted to address to the world on how things are really supposed to be viewed?

Let us not have a worldly perspective, but let’s meditate on God’s Perspective.

But in my opinion it would be better for her to stay single, and I think I am giving you counsel from God’s Spirit when I say this.

Paul's advice comes from the Holy Spirit, Who guides and equips both single and married people to fulfill their roles.(reference to 1 Corinth.7:40)

Prayer :

Father we come to you today , lifting up the name of Jesus ! The name above all names. We ask for guidance , clarity, and strength to maintain our relationships. Help us by your spirit God. To be content in any circumstance. Mold us and shape us into the women or men we need to be. Heal Lord , and touch our minds. Let us see from your perspective and not our own. Taking one day at a time. Prepare us and prepare our hearts ♥️ Lord!
